SD1 Mobile

Check out our SD1 Installs!

What is mobile, you ask?  Mobile is Sundown One's department for what you need to outfit your vehicle, whether that be car, truck, sport utility vehicle, boat, motorcycle, dump truck -- whatever you want to cruise around in, we will make it secure, make it sing, make it bark, make it tweet.  We'll make sure you have the best in Mobile sound, video, and security.  It is our mission to ensure that your ride starts when you want it to start and stays running when you want it to stay running.

If you want everyone on your block and the next five blocks to hear you when you pull up to your house, we are the ones to make that happen.  If you just want to hear it yourself and let no one else steal your glory, we can make that happen as well.  We have the best mixture of youth and inexperience, coupled with age and "out-of-date-ness," that makes us confident that we know what we are doing -- shoot, we're know-it-alls.

Luckily, we also have some actually talented people to make sure we don't screw anything up.  Couple that with the best products that, by the way, won't send you away with a 30 year loan, but will instead send you away lit up with enthusiasm, knowing that you didn't have to force yourself, your kids, and your kids' kids into debt just so you can have the best sound system in town.

Sound

When it comes to putting sound into your vehicle, you have many options.  There is good news and bad news:  you have a lot to choose from (that's the news).  Luckily, though, no matter what your choice is, you will certainly be satisfied.

The choice is yours:  Alpine, Orion, Memphis Car Audio, Panasonic, or JVC.  If you can't make up your mind, don't worry, we can help you decide.

Alpine is basically a household name.  We recognize that, but we also recognize that they did not get there because of marketing, but got to that point by being one of the best in mobile electronics.  They are extremely famous for their outstanding head-units, but they also have a great line of speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, navigation,...basically anything and everything that you could possibly need, they probably make it and you can be sure it is good quality.  Like I said, though, their forte is their head-units, which was one of the primary reasons we selected Alpine to be featured in our store.

And now we come to Orion.  Orion has always been one of, if not, the best in the business.  They excel in the competition sector of car audio, where everything is measured in decibels and judges walk around not with calculators but with SPL meters in their pocket protectors.  Orion will beat so loud you will go deaf -- if that is what you're after.  But, shoot, if you want to keep your hearing, they allow you to do that, as well.  Their amplifiers not only offer outstanding output (Watts and lots of them) but also deliver very high quality sound.  The same goes for their speakers and subwoofers.  Speaking of their subwoofers, have you seen these things?  They are amazing!  Stop in our store and gaze at one, pick it up if you like (well, try, that is).  Basically, that's why we selected them to have prominence in our store.

When one of Sundown One's best came to me and said, "Hey, we need to check out Memphis Car Audio," I didn't know what to think.  I had never heard of them before, but was told that they were a really good line.  So, I signed on board.  When we put together our Memphis Car Audio demo truck, I wasn't really sure what I was going to hear.  When I heard the system, I was blown away.  The sound was amazing:  loud, clear as day sound with booming yet tight bass.   Memphis Car Audio certainly brings a new option to the previous dilemma:  Alpine or Orion.

Why Panasonic?  Panasonic makes a very reliable and user-friendly head-unit.  Why did we bring it in?  Well, we ran out of head-units for our displays.  If you haven't come in to our store, come in and you will realize that even a company like Alpine cannot provide enough head-units to drive our displays!  So we needed to get something.  At Sundown One, though, we don't want to just bring in anything off the street.  We want to make sure that it is good stuff, that it'll work like you want it to, and that it will not leave you unhappy.  Luckily, we found Panasonic.

You may be wondering about JVC and why we have chosen to sell their product to you.  We realize that not everyone wants to spend hundreds of dollars on car audio (I know, hard to believe).  But, at the same time, they don't want to settle for some piece of junk factory system, or worse, a piece of junk that they paid for, after-the-fact.  That is where JVC comes in.  They sell a very good product but at an affordable price.  They certainly sell one of the best products in their niche.

Security

After you have paid the money for your car and your sound system, you don't want to worry that someone is then going to steal your car (and even worse, steal your sound system).  That is why we carry the best in automotive security.  Now, when we say security, we do not just mean securing yourself from other people intent on taking what is yours.  We also mean securing yourself from inclement weather.  And that is where our remote starts come in.

When it is snowing outside and the wind chill is below zero, you don't want to run out to your car and have to drive to work in a motorized igloo.  But, if you decide to go with remote start, all you have to do is tap twice on an attractive key fob and take away the frustration of the cold interior of your vehicle.

Now when choosing security for your vehicle, you are going to want the best.  You want to make sure you're secure no matter what position you are in.  That is why we have chosen Viper and Avital to offer a remote start and security system to you.

When you decide that you want to put security into your vehicle, you want to make sure it fits your needs.  Now, what may your needs be?

Do you want to be able to start your vehicle from within your office building when your vehicle is a mile away?  That is where Viper's SST technology comes in.  What is SST?  It stands for Spread Spectrum Technology.  What's that mean, you ask?  No idea.  But, what does that do for you?  It offers a one-mile range to your security or remote start system.

Now when you start your vehicle, do you need peace of mind that it has started?  If you are shopping within a large box store (way out of hearing range of your alarm) and your alarm does goes off, do you want to know it?  Well, fear no longer.  Viper offers Responder technology, as well, if you need it.  Responder technology means 2-way communication between you and your vehicle.  When you use your attractive key fob to start your vehicle, it will respond back to you, confirming that your vehicle has started.

What happens when you want security or remote start capabilities, but you don't need all the bells and whistles and just want a basic system?  Well, you don't have to worry, because we can take care of you with Avital security or remote start systems, starting at $175 (installation included!).

Stability

When you think stability, you might think about the ability to withstand outside factors attempting to be undermining.  In mobile electronics, stability comes in the form of the connections between speakers, amplifiers, and head units -- not to mention the connection between the sound system and the battery.

Stability comes from having high grade cables to link your system together and also from having a beefy power center.  Your sound system is going to be power hungry, and you don't want it to become irate and start doing things it shouldn't be doing.

In order to help with these issues, we have Stinger batteries and alternators to handle your power needs, as well as Directed Audio Essentials to handle your connection needs.

Not enough?  Well, what else could you need to stabilize your ride?  How about Satellite Radio?  Well, we can take care of that.  Want Sirius?  Well, we have that.  Wish you could have XM, instead?  Don't worry.  We can help you there, as well.  Would you like to be able to have Satellite Radio in your car, but also be able to listen to it in your house?  Don't worry.  We can take care of that for you.

Something still is being left out.  Now, when you buy a subwoofer, you are probably going to want to do something.  You don't want it to just roll around in the trunk of your car doing nothing.  You are definitely going to want to set that thing up in style.  We can help you with the best universal sub enclosures around.

Directed Audio Essentials brings us such things as capacitors and distribution blocks, as well as very nice looking cables, which, of course, you won't see when we hide them under your vehicle's carpet (too bad, really).  All of which are well-built and perfect for all applications.  We selected them, because their products are one of the best on the market (and because that's what I have in my truck -- it seemed fitting).  If you want the best out of the cables in your system, ask us to put Directed Audio Essentials into your vehicle.

Everything needs power these days (and usually a lot of it).  Stinger addresses these needs without leaving you wanting more, feeling that there may be some other product out there that could fulfill your needs better.  Stinger batteries will make sure that your vehicle never needs to be jumped, because you wanted to show off your impressive sound system.

Stinger alternators will make sure that when you are running your vehicle that your battery remains fully charged and that you will never be starved for power.  Furthermore, Stinger alternators are custom made for your vehicle, so you don't have to worry about any special modifications needing to be done or, even worse, that they would not have an alternator for your vehicle.

When you put Stinger into your vehicle, you can rest assured that when you want to crank your sound system, that you will have the power needed to do it and that you won't have to worry that you will be left without power to use your vehicle for its other purpose:  transportation.

Why do we carry Sirius Satellite Radio, you ask?  Well, besides the cool, white dog that adorns their logo, we also like that with Sirius, you can listen to music, music, music, rather than commercials, commercials, and maybe some music now and then.  Satellite Radio allows you to listen to the type of music that you like, not necessarily what the Top 40 happens to be.

Now, if we carry Sirius, why do we carry XM?  The answer:  we don't want anyone left out.  Some of you like Sirius; some of you prefer XM; and, of course, some of you don't care and just want Satellite Radio.  For whichever case, we can help you.  Of course, XM does not have the cool, white dog, but they do have yellow sound waves emanating from its logo, so that has to add something to it.  If you don't see anything in the logo (and I'm sure I wouldn't blame you), you will not be disappointed with the variety of music and other programming that XM Satellite Radio offers you.  With so many radio stations to choose from, you will never be bored by radio again.

When you buy a subwoofer, you are going to want to make sure you can get a box that is going to make it sound good.  We all know that you cannot just take some wood and slap it together with some glue, making a box, and put a subwoofer in it -- and expect it to sound amazing.  Unfortunately, it is not so simple, but that's where Subzone comes in.  They make amazing enclosures that have that amazing sound that you were hoping for from that earlier example.  Want a single enclosure?  Double?  One for 6" x 9"s?  Subzone makes it.

You know, sometimes not just any box will work.  Sometimes, you need a custom-fit.  And that's where Q-Logic comes in.  For many if not most of the vehicles out there, Q-Logic has an enclosure that will work and conceal the subwoofer, so that you can hear the sound but not see where it's coming from.  I can't understand why someone would not want to see their beautiful subwoofer pumping out major wattage, but some...probably most...people are like that (for whatever reason I seem to be in the minority).  For those that are not like me, there is Q-Logic.
